Apprenticeship Levy transfer service
On 13 September 2021, the Government launched the Apprenticeship Levy transfer service. This allows large employers that pay apprenticeship levies to advertise funding pledges on a dedicated gov.uk page.
During August 2021, the construction company Mace Group took part in a pilot to test the Apprenticeship Levy transfer system. While participating in the pilot, the company made an initial pledge and agreed to transfer further funding each year for other businesses to access. The funds will be advertised on government website so businesses in the construction sector will be able to access and create apprenticeship opportunities.
The service is intended to expand the availability of apprenticeship opportunities, which is one way people can be supported through retraining and upskilling initiatives. The service will allow businesses to choose to target their pledges towards the specific sectors and communities they wish to support.
